Description of the event:
Babu Banarasi Das College of Dental Sciences, BBD University, in collaboration with Apollo Hospital, Lucknow organized and conducted a Continuing Dental Education Program (CDE) on “Recent Advances in Head & Neck Cancer” on Wednesday, 11th December 2024 in the Conference Hall, BBDCODS.
The CDE Program Guest Lecture by Dr. Nabila Anjum (Radiation Oncologist), Dr. Amit Pandey (Medical Oncologist) and Dr. Harshit Srivastava (Onco-Surgeon).
The Program commenced with welcome of all the Guest Speakers and the HODs, faculty members, UG and PG students. The guest Speakers were felicitated with a bouquet of potted plants by the Principal, Dr. Puneet Ahuja.
The first Guest Speaker, Dr. Nabila Anjum, spoke about the role of Radiation Oncology in Head and Neck Cancer and about the recent advances in Radiotherapy such as targeted radiotherapy, PET Scam and Proton therapy.

The next speaker, Dr. Amit Pandey, gave a brief overview of the medical diagnosis of Head & Neck Cancer and the guidelines of a Tumour Board for effective treatment planning of the patient’s disease. He also mentioned about the role of Chemotherapy and targeted immunotherapy in such cancers.

Dr. Harshit Srivastava discussed about the surgical techniques and intervention in Head & Neck Cancer and displayed case studies of various surgical cases.

The program ended with a Vote of Thanks to all Guest Speakers, the team from Apollo Hospitals, Lucknow, HODs, faculty members and UG and PG students who attended the program.
