The Department of Periodontology was established in the year 2001 with the aim of imparting knowledge of structures surrounding the tooth in health and disease. The post-graduate program commenced in the year 2007.
The Department of Periodontology has a fine balance of dedicated staff, technological advancements to aid treatment procedures and sufficient cases for students to build their expertise. The faculty is dedicated towards guiding and shaping students for academic and clinical excellence. In addition, the faculty is constantly upgrading their knowledge by attending and organizing conferences and CDE programs along with publications in reputed journals.
The undergraduate students are trained to record a detailed case history to be able to identify, diagnose, plan and treat mild to moderate Periodontitis cases. During Internship, emphasis is given on the ability of the interns to apply the theoretical knowledge gained during their under graduation for better treatment outcomes, thereby enhancing their clinical skills.
There are 6 students, enrolled for the postgraduate program, in every session. The motto of the Department is to empower the students with the correct understanding of the subject, academically and clinically. The students are exposed to a plethora of periodontal treatment modalities including Dental Implants. These treatment modalities are aided by Electrocautery, LASERS and all new generation materials, required for regenerative and esthetic surgeries.
The Department takes pride in its complete commitment towards enabling the students to be able to bridge the gap between Oral Health and overall health, benefiting the society at large.
