Brief Description of Event:
National Oral Medicine & Radiology Day is celebrated every year on 24th April. To honour this day a theme is decided every year and for this year it was Revolutionizing Smiles: Innovate, Illuminate, Radiate!!
A CDE programme on “Medical emergencies in dental clinic” was conducted by Department of Oral Medicine & Radiology BBDCODS to commemorate the day. The Guest SpeakerDr. Jai Prakash Tiwari, (MBBS, DNB), HOD, Dept. of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care, GMC, Ayodhya highlighted about Symptoms, signs and how to recognize the medical emergencies that we come across in our dental clinic, along with management.He even demonstrated the procedure for Basic life support. It was attended by faculty members, postgraduates, under Graduate students& Interns of the college.
The day commenced with competitive activities for the undergraduates and interns which included Rangoli competition on 23rd April, which was enthusiastically attended by students. The competition was judged by Dr. Garima Agarwal, Professor, Dept. of Prosthodontics & Dr. Tanu Tiwari, Reader, Dept. of Conservative & Endodontics.Essay writing competition was also conducted on the same day for final year with the theme: Judicial Use of antibiotics and interns: Oral Medicine as a speciality; which was judged by Dr. Jiji George, HOD, Dept. of Oral Pathology &Dr. Mona Sharma, HOD, Dept. of Periodontics.
On 25th April Poster making competition was conducted with the theme “Oral Mucosa in Health & Disease” which was judged by Dr. Vishesh, Professor in Dept. of Conservative & Endodontics and Dr. Sugandha, Reader in the Dept. of Public Health Dentistry. Students enthusiasticallyparticipated in the event with 1st prize won by 1st year BDS students. The day culminated with a Quiz competition comprising of questions from Dentistry, Sports, Entertainment & Current Affairs which was conducted for BDS Final Year & Interns on the same day coordinated by Dr. Priya Singh, Reader and Dr. Saurabh Srivastava, Readerin the Department.Finally, the winners were awarded by Dr. Deepak U, HOD, Dept. of Oral Medicine & Radiology. The day concluded with appreciation and motivation to all the participating students.
